Gloria Tomatoe Serobe was born on20 September 1959 to a Gugulethu,Cape Town based family, who hail from Centani in rural Eastern Cape.She is a founding member and Chief Executive Officer of WIPHOLD. Over her almost four decades in the corporate world, Ms Serobe has held positions at, amongst others, Transnet, the Exxon Corporation in the USA, Munich Reinsurance Company of SA, the Premier Group and Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank. Her experience in corporate governance has also seen her appointed to a number of nationals, and multinational boards as Chairman. As a leader in the business world, activist for community upliftment, the empowerment of women, and the sustainable transformation of the South African economic landscape, Ms Serobe has received many honorary degrees and various awards. She holds a B.Com degree from Walter Sisulu University(then University of Transkei) and an MBA degree from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA. In 2023, she added author to her list of achievements when she published, An Ode to My Mother-in-Law: A mentorship of love and honour. She is married to Gaur Serobe and hasone son, Zani Serobe.
